Canareef Resort has placed the first standing weekly order through the Green Meedhoo Agri-Hub, pooling supply across several island farmers to meet a resort-scale quantity reliably, directly answering the resorts’ long-standing complaint that local supply "starts OK, then falls apart."
The order focuses on high-value, expensive-to-import crops (premium lettuce, herbs and chili) listed against import-price benchmarks so both sides see transparent pricing. Farmers plant to a confirmed order rather than to hope, and are paid in full quickly through the hub’s settlement layer.
The council frames the milestone as proof of the model: software-first aggregation and a reliability reputation score, not new heavy infrastructure, are what unlock the captive southern-resort buyer base.
“Farmers now plant to a confirmed order, not to hope. That is the reliability resorts said was missing.”
